Love Through The Ages
After weeks of late night practices, we've finally wrapped the Valentine's Day show. While practice until midnight can be torturous, it was so great to spend hours a day with two of my favorite girlies. We still managed to make the most of our time with tons of laughs, running from Elvis, Whitney Houston dance breaks, thugging out to ghetto rap, and lots and lots of McAlister's sweet tea!! Never a dull moment around Second Baptist!
A little glimpse:
Before the show with Charis
Ann Michele and Kelton (the REAL reason for the Whitney Houston dance breaks)
"My Honey, My Baby" with Angie and Ann Michele
Partners in Crime
"Rock My Baby" with Ashley, she kept us sane!
Incase you questioned Second's street cred

LOOOVE these girls! Charis and Ann Michele

House of Blues - Amos Lee
Saturday night, a group of ladies decided to have a night on the town. We headed off to see Amos Lee at the House of Blues in Downtown. Thankfully some of our group got there early enough to score us some stellar seats...front row! No zoom necessary on the cameras. We all agreed it was by far one of the best, if not the best, concert we'd ever been too. So good, in fact, that some of us are planning a trip to NOLA in April for Jazz Fest just to see him again. Yes, THAT good!

I see Your face...
I see Your face in every sunrise
The colors of the morning are inside Your eyes
The world awakens in the light of the day
I look up to the sky and say
You're beautiful
I see Your power in the moonlit night
Where planets are in motion and galaxies are bright
We are amazed in the light of the stars
It's all proclaiming who you are
You're beautiful
I see you there hanging on a tree
You bled and then you died and then you rose again for me
Now you are sitting on Your heavenly throne
Soon we will be coming home
You're beautiful
When we arrive at eternity's shore
Where death is just a memory and tears are no more
We'll enter in as the wedding bells ring
Your bride will come together and we'll sing
You're beautiful
I see Your face, I see Your face, I see Your face
You're beautiful, You're beautiful, You're beautiful
The colors of the morning are inside Your eyes
The world awakens in the light of the day
I look up to the sky and say
You're beautiful
I see Your power in the moonlit night
Where planets are in motion and galaxies are bright
We are amazed in the light of the stars
It's all proclaiming who you are
You're beautiful
I see you there hanging on a tree
You bled and then you died and then you rose again for me
Now you are sitting on Your heavenly throne
Soon we will be coming home

You're beautiful
I see Your face, I see Your face, I see Your face
You're beautiful, You're beautiful, You're beautiful

'Case' for Christ
This past weekend, in celebration of Super Bowl Sunday, Second Baptist in Houston did something a little different with their service. Case Keenum, the quarterback for the University of Houston, came and gave a bit if his testimony to the congregation. Case is a remarkably talkent guy and also a strong Christian. I'd recommend starting the video around minute 26.

Weekend Madness
Sweet friends after a long weekend of practice for "Love Through The Ages", the Valentine's Day production at church. Here's to an average of 5 hours of practice a night for the next week and a half.
And after 2 days of practice lasting a total of 12 hours, we started losing patience quickly. I think it was the fact we had to raise our hands to speak that drove us a little mad. Apparently that madness drives us to pull out the finger guns. To keep our sanity we started doing an ode to Cougar Town, one of the most hilarious tv shows ever...
I'm pretty sure the truth guns will be busted out this week.

Functional and Fabulous
Today, I am thankful for whoever created the knee high boot. They are THE perfect winter shoe...stylish yet warm. So thank you, whoever you are, for helping contribute to my shoe addiction. My feet are ever so grateful!

Joy!!!
Last night at Beth Moore we talked about joy and anguish. How so often these two can actually go hand in hand. There were two verses that really stuck out to me, Isaiah 61:3 and Psalm 30:11-12 .
BE ENCOURAGED, HAPPY WEDNESDAY!!
to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes,
the oil of joy instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.
to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes,
the oil of joy instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.
(Isaiah 61:3)
You turned my wailing into dancing;
you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent.
LORD my God, I will praise you forever.
you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent.
LORD my God, I will praise you forever.
(Psalm 30:11-12)
